Gulmira’s 2nd Birthday Photos

This precious feeling when your clients like your images so much that they order a whole album that will look fantastic on their shelf.

The era of digital photography has opened so many possibilities of documenting the events as they come and capturing the fleeting moments.  At the same time it robbed us from the time or will to select the images that matter most and make space for them in our daily lives.

I’m really glad that Azamat and Nuriza trusted me with documenting this precious milestone in their family’s life.

Happy 2nd birthday, Gulmira! I look forward to seeing you grow into a breathtaking beauty.

When I was pregnant fifteen years ago, someone gave me a book called “Toddler Taming” by Christopher Green, and I distinctly remember reading a horror story about Terrible Twos. When my daughter was approaching the critical age of two, I was mentally bracing myself for the storm which actually never came. In my personal experience, the two year old children are angels, real pleasure to be with, let alone to photograph. Just give them space and be quick to click the shutter as they open up.

How many photographs do you have where every single member of your immediate family are alongside you in one frame? When I was making a photo book as a gift to my husband for our 15th wedding anniversary, I barely found enough photos to fill an album spread for each year that we’ve been together and, believe me, I was using every single snapshot I could locate, many of which weren’t exactly printing material.

I’m glad this is changing and more families choose to hire a photographer at least once a year, if only for a Christmas card. Find a photographer that you feel comfortable with and make time to document your life. If there is anything this pandemic taught us - it’s to be thankful for your family.
