Surprise Engagement Session: Katie and Jake

Katie and Jake got engaged in 2020, and a year later they still hadn’t gotten their engagement photos done. When Katie’s sister Sarah learnt about their relocation to another city, she took the matters in her own hands and secretly plotted a photo session, having received the full support from Jake.

We discussed the locations with Sarah and both agreed that Katie’s favorite thing, climbing trees as a child, would be perfect for the session. I scouted the location in advance so that I had an exact route in mind for a variety of lighting and backdrops.

Sarah took care of the ‘looking your best’ part like a real pro. She booked a sisters’ spa day and made a reservation in an upscale restaurant for the night, so Katie was all dressed up looking gorgeous. I don’t think she realized what was going on until she saw me with all the photography gear waiting for her in the park.
